The Rolex Datejust is the ‘poster boy’ for Rolex. Globally recognised as one of the most popular watches in the world and certainly one of the most versatile. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust, since its release in 1945, has seen a multitude of different case materials from stainless steel to platinum, dial variations of every colour under the sun, set in an array of different styles, bezel variations and repeatedly improved mechanics. This particular reference is a 1625, it has a striking sunburst silver ‘pie-pan’ dial with baton hour markers and clear black type. The watch is fitted with silver hands, a date window at 3 o’clock and a rotating bezel. The distinctive bezel is mounted on the 36mm stainless-steel oyster case with a screw down Rolex crown and has remained in good condition although showing signs of wear such as hairline marks and light dinks. It is paired with a stainless steel Rolex jubilee bracelet. The bracelet is in a fair condition although baring significant slack, typical of a folded link jubilee bracelet from this period. Housed behind the screw down case back is the automatic Rolex movement which is running well.
