This particular reference is a 5500 dating from 1964. It has a striking silver sunburst dial with gold applied hour markers, lume plots and clear black type. The watch is fitted with gold ‘alpha’ hands and a smooth bezel. The 34mm 9ct gold oyster case has a screw down Rolex crown and has remained in good structural condition although showing clear signs of wear such as hairline marks and some deeper. It is paired with a rare and unusual 9ct gold Rolex bracelet. The bracelet is in good condition although has some hairline scratches. Housed behind the screw down case back, marked ‘1002’, is the automatic Rolex cal. 1530 movement which is running well.
