CARTIER ONYX & ENAMEL GOLD FILLED WRISTWATCH CIRCA 1980S
CARTIER ONYX & ENAMEL GOLD FILLED WRISTWATCH CIRCA 1980S
Since its creation by Louis Cartier in 1917, the Cartier Tank has been associated with some of the worlds most renowned figures from Royalty to actors from politicians to sports stars. The Cartier Tank is an iconic piece, steeped in horological history. Its design has certainly stood the test of time taking on a variety of different forms.
The piece we have here is a Cartier which dates to the 1980s. It has a case similar to that of a Patek Philippe ‘top hat’. The onyx gilt dial is signed ‘swiss’ at the 6 o’clock position and features gold dauphine hands. The dial does have some very light wear which you can see in the images but is not noticeable on the wrist. The gold filled case measures 21x29mm which features the iconic sapphire set crown. Housed behind the snap case back is a manually wound Cartier signed movement which is running well. It has been paired with a black leather strap and gold plated Cartier buckle. This piece shows everything we know and love about Cartier and its roots with unique designs. This piece comes with a TSW travel case.
