EXCEEDINGLY RARE CARTIER TORTUE EWC MOVEMENT EDOUARD JAEGER 18CT YELLOW GOLD CIRCA 1930S
Since its creation by Louis Cartier in 1912, the Cartier Tortue has been a dark horse in the Cartier collection. Its design has certainly stood the test of time. The piece we have on offer is an exceedingly rare model produced in very few numbers during the 1930s by Cartier France. This particular piece has a case measurement of 24.6x31.6mm. The 18ct gold case has some hairline marks and other wear consistent with age. The case back is marked with some personal engravings. The crown side of the case back is marked ‘1*336’ and is fitted with its iconic cabochon sapphire set crown. The inside of the case back is stamped 'EJ' for Edouard Jaeger and is marked '8079 1'.
This piece has its original dial, hands and movement. Although showing aging, the numerals and type remain clear. Housed behind the screw down case back is a 18 jewel manually wound European Watch Co movement. The movement is stamped E W & Co and is running. The watch is fitted on a generic leather strap and buckle.
