ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL STEEL & GOLD ZEPHYR REF. 1008 CIRCA 1962
ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL STEEL & GOLD ZEPHYR REF. 1008 CIRCA 1962
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Zephyr line was first produced during the mid-1950s. The first was the ref. 6582 which sported the cal. 1030 movement. As far as vintage Oyster Perpetuals go, a Zephyr is hard to beat. The Zephyr we have here is a ref. 1008 which has the iconic sector or hairline dial with a gold bezel, gold crown and the distinctive bezel. The watch comes with a steel and gold riveted expandable bracelet. This piece was produced in 1962.
The silver sector dial is in fantastic condition with all lume plot hour markers in place and clearly defined detail and type. The dial is marked ‘SWISS’ below the 6 o’clock hour marker. The watch is fitted with gold dauphine hands with a sweeping second hand. The 36mm stainless-steel case is fitted with the iconic Zephyr bezel and a gold screw down Rolex crown. The case has some hairline scratches and dinks. House behind the case back is the coveted cal. 1560 movement which is running well. The watch is paired with its steel and gold riveted expandable bracelet which is in good condition considering its age although does have some hairline scratches, dinks and general wear. One inner link is slightly out of place but does not effect the expandable aspect of the bracelet.
