OMEGA SPEEDMASTER TEUTONIC CHRONOGRAPH REF. 1450040 3450803
OMEGA SPEEDMASTER TEUTONIC CHRONOGRAPH REF. 1450040 3450803
The Omega Speedmaster has gone through many iterations since its first release in 1957. Originally designed by Claude Baillod with the ref. CK 2915, also known as the ‘Broad Arrow’. Many aspects of the original model remain to this day, with a consistent aesthetic throughout the line. The Omega Speedmaster Teutonic however, is of a whole new style. Produced for the German market in the early 1980s. The case shape creates the unique and instantly recognizable design. The Teutonic line included five versions, stainless steel cases with both silver and black dials, two tone cases with black dial and two-tone dials, and lastly, the Mark V. This example runs off the calibre 861 movement.
Let’s start with the dial, the matte black dial has applied silver indexes with second and minute markers in between. The dial showcases three subsidiary dials. The contrasting white hands include a central second, hour and minute hand. The standout aspect of this watch is the 44mm blasted stainless steel case with semi plush pump pushers, a signed Omega crown and an understated, and seemingly plain bezel which has a tachymeter lightly engraved. The asymmetrical case is most certainly what sets this piece apart from the rest. The case is in a fair condition with some light hairline scratches and other marks. Behind the snap case back, is the manually wound Omega cal. 861, which appears to be in a good state with all its functions running well. The semi-integrated bracelet, reminiscent of the ‘flat link’ bracelets, makes this watch for a comfortable wear. Made from stainless steel, the band remains in good form with hairline marks. As you can see, this a fantastic example of an underrepresented Speedmaster.
