Since its creation by Louis Cartier in 1917, the Cartier Tank has been associated with some of the worlds most renowned figures from Royalty to actors, from politicians to sports stars. The Cartier Tank is an iconic piece, steeped in horological history. Its design has certainly stood the test of time taking on a variety of different forms. The piece we have here is the Cartier Tank Americaine which was released in 1989, with the Francaise following shortly in 1989. There are a few sizes of the Americaine, yet all with the same stretched form for a perfect fit on the wrist.

The Cartier Tank Americaine ref. W2603556 has a 23x41mm 18ct gold case and is in good condition with some signs of wear such as hairline marks. The guilloche dial showcases roman numeral hour markers, sword hands and a quickset date at 6 o’clock. The case is fitted with a sapphire set crown. Housed behind the screw down case back is an automatic movement which is clean and running well. The watch is fitted on a green leather strap with a stainless steel buckle. This piece also comes with its guarantee papers.
