Since its creation by Louis Cartier in 1917, the Cartier Tank has been associated with some of the worlds most renowned figures from Royalty to actors, from politicians to sports stars. The Cartier Tank is an iconic piece, steeped in horological history. Its design has certainly stood the test of time taking on a variety of different forms. The piece we have here is the Cartier Tank Americaine which was released in 1989, with the Francaise following shortly in 1989. There are a few sizes of the Americaine, yet all with the same stretched form for a perfect fit on the wrist.

The Cartier Tank Americaine ref. 2489 is in good condition. Starting with the dial which is in its original, clean condition with clear and defined type. The 20x35mm 18ct gold case is in good condition with some hairline marks. The case is fitted with a sapphire set crown. Housed behind the screw down case back is a quartz movement which is clean and running well. The watch is fitted on its original Cartier leather strap with its 18ct gold buckle. This piece comes with its guarantee papers dated 2011.
