HOW OLD IS MY ROLEX WATCH? HOW TO WORKOUT THE AGE OF YOUR ROLEX...
Have you been trying to identify the age of your Rolex watch? In this ‘how to’ guide, we will show you how to locate and cross reference your serial number to identify the year of your timepiece.
Where you can find the serial number depends on the age of your watch. On very early Rolex watches you can find the serial number on the rear of the case back, likely next to a four-digit number, this is the reference, the serial number will be five digits or more. Often you will find the serial number is located between the 6 o’clock lugs (where the bracelet is attached to the watch head). To remove the bracelet, you will need a metal pin or something like, to be able to push out the spring bar through the holes on either side of the case. More recent models, post 2002, tend not to have the holes on the side of the case so you would remove the bracelet by triggering the spring bare on the reverse side of the bracelet, between the lugs. Once removed you will find a multi digit number, this is your watches serial. In 2005, Rolex began engraving the serial number on the inner ring, referred to as the ‘rehaut’, which sits between the dial and the crystal at the 6 o’clock position. Now you have your serial number, you can cross reference it with our Rolex chart to identify the year of production. If you have questions, feel free to get in touch via our contact page.
